"Tender Mercies of the Lord are over all those whom He hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even onto the power of deliverance." 1 Nephi 1:20
Elder Bednar has given a powerful and memorable talk titled "The Tender Mercies of the Lord." April 2005 #GeneralConference, even our son quotes it to us.

1 Nephi 2:17 - Nephi being the younger brother of Sam, and Sam still listened to him. I guess his other brothers didn't care enough to listen.
